My Story

Today, I'm a MLSOK Board Member and I hold eight national designations and certifications.  I've done a little of everything. From commercial real estate to property management; from managing two brokerages to owning a real estate school, to say real estate is my passion would be an understatement.

While I've been licensed since 2013, you can say my journey started with furry in 2007. My husband and I had contracted our first house. I was 21 and I had to have this house.  Shortly after closing, the excitement wore off. We noticed the condition of the house wasn't what it should be. We later found out, in addition to poor condition, we paid about $15,000 too much for a $66,000 house; that's nearly 25% over.  I went from loving this house to hating it. I wanted to move ASAP, but we were upside down in the house. We stayed upside down for nearly 10 years.

What did we do wrong? For starters, we didn't have a Realtor. We thought we couldn't afford one, I wish we would have checked first. From there, the red flags go up! We bought a For Sale By Owner home. The owner was an attorney ( I later found out he owned more than 200 properties.) We didn't do inspections. We used his lender whom I met at her house and we closed in his office, not with a title company. Everything you shouldn't do, we did.

I was so upset about being stuck with a house I no longer wanted, it created a desire in me to be better than the guy who got over on two young first time homebuyers. I decided I would own more homes than him and would do so by being fair and honest. I had no idea God would turn my furry into passion. Years later, I enjoy nothing more than educating eager individuals with the knowledge of real estate.
